Building a movement for pacific islander self determination in Oregon

The Oregon Pacific Islander Coalition (OPIC) is an independent statewide coalition of 5 Pacific Islander (PI) community organizations. We believe that Pacific Islanders know how to serve Pacific Islanders best and organize to radically transform people, policies, and practices that impact our communities.

Our expertise

Direct Community Support

We believe that our people deserve safety, stability, and dignity. OPIC is home to various programs, led by Member Organizations, that include health system navigation, youth development, affordable housing, growing cultural foods, and language preservation.

Capacity Building

Our people are the answer, and our culture is the medicine that we need to mend the wounds of historical and contemporary oppression. We combine healing, political education, and technical assistance to develop organizers and sustain grassroots organizations to be at the forefront of our movement.

Collective Action

We organize because we are ready for something different. OPIC takes collective action through data, research, policy, and advocacy to uproot injustice and build abundant indigenous futures. Our vision is a thriving body of PI health and education systems rooted in our political and cultural traditions.

“We are here because we are ready for something different.”

- Jesse Gasper, OPIC Founding member
